“Books4Kids Jamaica program presents 45 companies and individuals across the world with Sponsorship Award Plaques.”


Books4Kids Jamaica has presented Sponsorship Award Plaques to 45 companies and individuals across the world who have assisted the charity over the last 8 years. 22 international sponsors in Europe & US as well as 23 Jamaican sponsors received Sponsorship Award Plaques, recognizing their contributions to the children of Jamaica.


With airlines and hotels key contributors to the charity’s annual Online Charity Auction, airline companies Delta Air Lines and JetBlue Airways were recognized for their 5 year contributions. International companies presented with 5 year Sponsorship Award Plaques include global vacation companies Resort Condominiums International and Silverpoint Hotels & Resort, Azure Golden Sands Radisson BLU Resort & Spa in Malta, London’s Royal Garden Hotel, H-Hotel and Media Hotel in Dubai, Castello del Nero Hotel & Spa in Tuscany, Ward Woods of Regency Resorts Tenerife, The Carnival Foundation, Holland America Line Workman Publishing Company and Crestone Capital Advisors. Jamaican hotel companies honoured for their over-the-years contributions to the Online Charity Auction, include Grand Palladium Hotel, Iberostar Grand Rose Hall Beach & Spa Resort, GoldenEye Hotel, Spanish Court Hotel and Half Moon hoteliers Heinz & Elisabeth Simonitsch.


International individuals who were distinguished for significant contributions were Guy Bertaud, Eric and Stacey Kramer, Markus and Catherine Deutsch, Alsion Roach, Ed Frazer, Bonnie and Stephen Holmes, Charlotte and Danny Lubert, Mary Ann and Dave Petree and Gavin Brooking. Jamaica’s Daryl Vaz (MP), Senator Noel and Sharron Sloley, Tristan and Laura Alvarado from the SJ Foundation, Margaret Kerr, Marylin and Stafford Burrowes, Christopher Clarke, Max Earle, Garth Ramsay and Kathy Dear were honoured. Finally, Jamaica Tours Ltd., Seaboard Freight & Shipping Jamaica, Billy Craig Insurance Brokers, Keith Thorpe Customs Brokers and Palace Amusement were recognised for their long-term sponsorship.


Books4Kids Jamaica Chairperson Ragni Trotta stated that the charity wanted to recognize sponsors who have been part of the program for several years and contributed significantly to its fundraising, transportation or distribution efforts. Said Trotta; “The Sponsorship Award Plaques are a thank you to our sponsors for making the program possible. We hope to be giving out many more awards next year, as sponsors continue to support our efforts.”

About The Palmyra Foundation

Under the slogan "The future is bright, when you can read and write!" The Palmyra Foundation’s Books4Kids Jamaica program is dedicated to providing books to 4 and 5 year old Pre-K and Kindergarten children in infant schools across Jamaica. Since it's startup in 2007, more than 130 international volunteers have helped provide more than 170,000 books to 51,592 children in 130 schools across Jamaica's 14 parishes.
